Child abuse does not decrease during stay at home orders or when families are financially stressed. In fact, the opposite is true. At a time when emergency rooms are seeing more severe cases of child abuse, DHS has reported that calls to the child abuse hotline have dropped by 70% since the closure of school. It is only a matter of time until the real impact to children becomes known and abuse reports skyrocket.nnCork & Barrel funds 20% of KIDS Center’s annual budget. These vital funds change the lives of children and families impacted by child abuse. This year the need is enormous, but the vision is steadfast. Birdies 4 Babies is Going Virtual!nnDue to COVID-19 concerns, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is moving “Birdies 4 Babies” online – sign up for our online auction and August 30th virtual event at MTSTAR.ORG/B4B. We are so grateful for the Broken Top community’s support… Please stick with us through the changes this year; you all raise VITAL funds for local children! nnChild abuse increases in times of crisis. We are working hard to stay connected to our community’s most vulnerable families while the pandemic creates unprecedented stress and upheaval. We can’t gather in-person on the course or under the big tent for our most important fundraiser of the year, but we can still come together (virtually) to help vulnerable local babies!nnAll participants must pre-register (free) at MTSTAR.ORG/B4B to bid in our online auction and get a login link for our August 30th virtual event.
