Following his exclusion from Brazil's last friendly match before the 30-player World Cup provisional roster deadline, Ronaldinho optimistically said this: “I will go to the World Cup, and I will win it. Recently, I have had problems with the national team, but it hasn’t been my fault. I can’t imagine a World Cup without Ronaldinho on the field. “It seems impossible to me when I think of not playing. I feel bad, really bad. Therefore, I can safely say I will make my country proud in the World Cup and, above all—with my teammates—I’ll win it.” But then the impossible happened and Brazil manager Dunga left Ronaldinho out of his squad. World Cup organizer Danny Jordaan implied that Dunga has been blinded by power, while others say this is Dunga's revenge for when a 19-year-old Ronaldinho showed up an aging Dunga on the pitch. Dunga, meanwhile, defends his decision and perhaps supports the previous two theories by claiming that Ronaldinho is simply past it. Even though Ronaldinho has had 10 goals and his ball distribution has earned him 14 assists with AC Milan this season.
