A wonderful way to honor our loved ones with bulbs that rebloom every year.
Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us! Here's some flower history about this special day. 🌹nnBefore the Civil War ended, women’s groups got together to decorate and place flowers on the graves of the soldiers who had passed away. On April 12, 1886, the Columbus Ladies Memorial Association in Columbus, Georgia, announced they would dedicate one day a year to decorating graves as a way to remember fallen soldiers. nnThis eventually led to the federal holiday. Before 1971, this was known as Decoration Day. The very first Decoration Day was celebrated on May 30, 1868, as the future president James A. Garfield gave a remembrance speech to thousands of onlookers at Arlington National Cemetery. Today, Memorial Day is celebrated at Arlington National Cemetery with a ceremony in which a small American flag is placed on each of the over 400,000 graves. Many people also place flowers to honor their loved ones on Memorial Day. We hope you have a SAFE and BLESSED holiday weekend! 🇱🇷
