Little Emma Kate was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder known as 2q37 deletion syndrome. Her disabilities are numerous! Life for her parents and for her brothers – is full of the struggles that come with disability.nnJoni and Friends Louisiana facilitated a fully accessible outdoor adventure respite event for special needs families, and Emma Kate’s family was able to join in on all the fun, fellowship, and Christ-centered encouragement. It was a welcome time away from the daily routine families living with disability encounter, and a glorious call out of isolation for many.nn“Our family had so much fun at the outdoor adventure!” beamed Emma Kate's mom. “It was a beautiful day of fellowship with caring Christian people being the hands and feet of Jesus. Today is a difficult anniversary. Twenty years ago, terrorist attacks delivered a tectonic shock to our nation, changing it forever. The tragedy of thousands losing their lives, of others forever bearing wounds, and how it thrust us into an unending war against terrorism. nnAs we remember the 20th anniversary of the September 11th, let us pray for God’s mercy on our nation. May he bring healing, peace, and unity in the midst of fear and divisiveness. The challenges of hurricane recovery go on long after the storm passes. Life takes on a different pace! Suffering becomes something a community shares. nnThis week, we joined Penn’s Restaurant out of the Jackson, MS area to serve 700 plates of hot food to residents of Vacherie, LA. Vacherie is a small town near the Mississippi river that was hit hard by Hurricane Ida with many of the people still without power nearly 2 weeks after the storm.
