Meaning of Gayatri MantrannThe word ‘gayatri’ implies guru-gayatri mantra, kama-gayatri mantra etc. These all are termed as gayatri mantras.nnIn these gayatri mantras, What is 'vidmahe'? 'vidmahe' means sambandha-jnana.nnI know you. What do I know? nnWho am I? I am your servant. I am the servant of Krsna. This knowledge of one's eternal relation (sambandha jnana) gets manifested from the gayatri mantra.nn'krsnanandaya' - You give pleasure to Krsna and Krsnā.nnThen after that 'dhimahi' - I meditate. On what? How you are engaged in the service of Sri Radha Krsna, O Gurudeva! I meditate on all those subject matters. And following your footsteps, we try to engage ourselves also. Therefore, this is abhidheya.nnThe term "pracho 'dayat" is pra+cha+udayat. This is 'phal prapti' - attaining the fruit of chanting the mantra. It means- O Lord, please manifest in my heart. Rupanuga Does Not Mean Vaidhi Bhakti nnThose who have never studied Vilapa Kusumanjali, Utkalika Vallari... Those who have sworn that we will not touch Ujjvala Nilamani, [thinking that] in millions of births we will not be qualified for this. What is all this?! Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas are not kanistha adhikaris of arcana marga. nnOur acaryas have not come to give navadha bhakti. Before this Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya and before them Naradji and everyone had given the path of devotion [vaidhi bhakti]. nnWe say that we are rupānugā Vaiṣṇavas. We take pride in this. [Some people think that] Just by selling books or just by performing some deity worship or sweeping the temple, we will get rāgānugā bhakti, we have become rupānugā. For those who themselves do not understand this principle, in millions of births it will not happen. nnWe will have to understand - Which innermost desire of Mahāprabhu did Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī fulfil? Jhulana Yatra nnIt is the month of sravana. In all four directions, there is a mild drizzle with soft thundering clouds gathering together. There is greenery in all four directions. Even the Yamuna is full with spotless, beautiful and sweet water. Beautiful lotus flowers are swaying in it. Bumblebees are humming over them as if they are carrying the message of the month of sravana. Being maddened in bliss, the peacocks begin to coo and dance. nnThe swing was ready before hand. Radhaji sat on the swing with her sakhis. The asta sakhis- Lalita, Visakha, Citra, Campakalata, Tungavidya, Indulekha, Rangadevi, Sudevi and their own chief sakhis- Rupa manjari, Rati manjari, Lavanga manjari, etc were all ready for this beforehand. The sakhis sang malhara raga and made Kṛṣṇa sit on the swing, and they began to swing Them with great force. Radhikaji bound Kṛṣṇa in the noose of Her embrace so that she wouldn’t fall off the swing and Kṛṣṇa’s desire became fulfilled. nnThe sakhis very happily kept swinging Them. Where to Invest Our Energy For FestivalsnnLet us not engage in overt pageantry. Whatever activity we perform, it should be such that we remain situated in pure devotional service. This swing that has been set up, has been put together by all these people by their own inspiration. People are coming, having darsana and everything is going on. But if we had spent 10 - 12 months just behind planning to decorate this swing and remain overly engaged in this, then this would not be considered devotional service.nnTherefore, overly endeavouring to set up the swing is fine at its own place for neophytes. In order to attract the neophyte devotees, our brahmacaris made this arrangement that they all may visit the temple.nnWhere is the bhakti in this swing? The bhakti is in the mood of the person who is inspiring us to engage in this activity. Otherwise, what is so special in this? Just try to understand this. If a person spends Rs 10 crore and makes an amazing swing then what will be achieved? Rupa Gosvami is Superior to BrahmajinnOnly some 400 or 500 years ago, Rupa Gosvami was here. He was in this world. How can we say Brahma is the first kavi (poet)? Sakhya or Dasya Rasa is NOT RupanugannIf one has greed in any one rasa among the five rasas and when one performs bhajana by following the footsteps of those situated in that rasa, this is called rāgānugā. And one who performs bhajana by following in the footsteps of Rūpa Gosvāmī, who is always spontaneously and naturally absorbed in his service [to Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa] is a rupānugā. All those who are rupānugā, they are certainly rāgānugā. But it is certainly possible that all rāgānugās may not be rupānugā. All these cowherd boys, they are also rāgānugā. However what was the mood of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī? nntambularpana pada mardana payo danabhisaradhibhirnvrndaranya-mahervarim priyataya yas tosayanti priyahnprana-prestha-sakhi-kulad api kilasaíkocita bhumikahnkeli-bhumisu rupa-manjari-mukhas ta dasika samsrayenn"She brings Radha and Krsna tambula (a betel nut preparation) and water that has been very sweetly flavored with milk and herbs (payo-dana).
